First Consultation and Subsequent
In the first consultation a detailed history will be taken; this will include questions about your current symptoms, past medical history, family medical history, diet, lifestyle and the functions of all the systems in the body. In subsequent treatments and during the first consultation the treatment will consist of examination of the abdomen, tongue and pulse taking. Needles are inserted at specific acupuncture points and left in place for between 10-30 minutes, depending on the effect required. Sometimes moxibustion, cupping, electro acupuncture, and massage will be applied.
Advice on dietary and lifestyle adjustments may also be given to enhance the effectiveness of the treatment.

How long does a treatment take?
The first consultation is an hour in length and subsequent treatments take roughly 45 minutes to an hour.

How many treatments will I need?
The number of sessions required will vary depending on the condition. Generally, if the problem is relatively acute then less treatments would be needed, possibly 1 to 5 sessions. If it is a chronic problem, you may expect 4 to 10 treatments. These treatments may become more spaced as the problem starts to get better, for instance monthly. This will be discussed during the first consultation.

What should I do before the treatment?
It is required that one eats before the treatment. It is preferable to wear loose clothing but not necessary.

Concessions are based on a sliding scale, roughly 30 pounds.

 

Colombo Centre

Private Consultation is 45 pounds.

Multibed clinic is 30 pounds and 25 pounds for *concessions.

 

Como Shambhala

First and subsequent treatments are 85 pounds.

*Concession applies pensioners, students, and unemployed. 
*Cancellation fee applies for non-attendance at half the rate.
